 Origins

When the primary colonists received Australian state in late 1836, any prisoners (there were few at first) were control in irons aboard the ships HMS Buffalo then cap O'Shanter. In early 1837 the general public were warned that loose convicts from New South Wales could reach the colony and in mid-1837 Buffalo and cap O'Shanter sailed away.
